Matomo + SendTidings

Branded client reports with Matomo.

You self-host Matomo because you want to own your clients’ data. SendTidings turns those numbers into a beautiful monthly report: branded as you, written like a letter, delivered to your client’s inbox on the 1st. Your data stays on your instance; only the report goes out.

Built for agencies who own their stack.

You run Matomo (probably self-hosted) because you want full control of your clients’ analytics: no third party in the middle, no data sold on, GDPR handled on your terms. A reporting tool shouldn’t quietly undo that by shipping everything off to someone else’s warehouse.

SendTidings reads only the stats it needs for the report, over Matomo’s Reporting API, on a schedule. Your instance stays the source of truth. There’s nothing new to install on your client’s site and no second tracking script. It’s a server-to-server pull and then a plain, beautiful email — the same ownership-first posture you picked Matomo for in the first place.

From your instance to their inbox.

01

Connect Matomo once

Add your instance URL and a read-only auth token at the organisation level. Cloud or self-hosted, it’s the same form; every site you add picks the connection up, so you never paste a token per site.

02

Point a site at its Matomo site

Add a client site, choose the matching Matomo site from the dropdown, and set Matomo as the primary source for that site.

03

Set the schedule and forget it

Add the client’s email and pick a send day. On the 1st of every month, the report goes out, branded as you, with your Matomo numbers inside.

Running several Matomo instances across your portfolio? Connect each one and every site picks the instance that holds its data. There’s no limit.

Questions from Matomo agencies.

Does this work with self-hosted Matomo?
Yes, that's the common case. You give SendTidings your instance URL (e.g. analytics.youragency.com) and a read-only auth token. Matomo Cloud works exactly the same way. Running more than one Matomo instance across your client portfolio is fine; each connection is independent and every site picks the one that holds its data.
Does my client's data leave my Matomo instance?
Only the headline stats for the report do, and only at send time. SendTidings reads the numbers it needs over Matomo's Reporting API on a schedule, builds the email, and sends it. We don't mirror or warehouse your analytics; your Matomo instance stays the source of truth, which is presumably why you self-host it.
Do my clients need a Matomo login?
No. You connect Matomo once at the organisation level. Your clients just receive the monthly report by email; they never touch Matomo or SendTidings.
What token does SendTidings need?
A read-only auth token from your Matomo user settings (Personal → Security → Auth tokens). Read access to the sites you want to report on is all it needs; it never writes anything back to Matomo.
What Matomo data goes into the report?
Visitors, pageviews, visits, bounce rate, average visit time and pages per visit for the month, plus your top pages and top sources. The headline numbers a client cares about, written as a letter rather than a dashboard.
How long does it take to set up?
A few minutes. Add your Matomo connection once, add a site, pick the matching Matomo site from the dropdown, add the client's email, and set the send day. Connect once, send forever.

Turn Matomo into a report worth reading.

Free for one site, forever. No credit card. Five minutes to your first report.

Also connects Plausible, Google Analytics, Search Console & uptime. See how SendTidings compares.
