Refund policy.

Subscriptions are sold by our payments processor, Paddle, who acts as Merchant of Record. Refunds are governed by Paddle’s refund policy; this page is a plain-English summary.

Statutory withdrawal rights

If you’re a consumer in the UK, EU, or EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your first paid subscription within 14 days of purchase. We can’t take this right away and we don’t want to. Similar rights apply in some other jurisdictions; Paddle’s policy lists the country-specific windows.

The 14-day right applies only to the first payment under a subscription contract; it doesn’t apply to subsequent renewal payments. (UK annual subscriptions are an exception — they get a fresh 14-day window at each renewal — but SendTidings doesn’t currently offer annual billing.)

Discretionary refunds

Outside the statutory window, Paddle may issue a refund at its sole discretion if a request is submitted within 14 days of the transaction. Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis; approval of one refund doesn’t obligate approval of any future request.

How to request a refund

Refund requests go to Paddle, not to SendTidings, because Paddle is the seller of record on your transaction:

  • Click the refund link on the receipt email Paddle sent you when you bought the subscription, or
  • Visit paddle.net and look up your purchase using the order details from your receipt.

Approved refunds are processed by Paddle to your original payment method within 14 days of approval. The funds will show on your card statement after that depending on your bank.

What we do on our end

When Paddle approves a refund, your subscription is cancelled and your account drops back to the free tier (or closes entirely on request). Your data remains exportable for thirty days, after which it’s deleted in line with our Privacy Policy. If anything goes sideways with that mechanical step, email refunds@sendtidings.com and we’ll sort it.

Free tier

The free tier is free, so there’s nothing to refund. If you want your account closed entirely rather than downgraded, email hello@sendtidings.com.

Self-hosted (open source)

A self-hostable open-source build of SendTidings is planned under the AGPL-3.0 licence. It will be free to download and run, with no commercial relationship between us, so refunds aren’t applicable.

Defects

If SendTidings has a material technical defect that means the service didn’t do what it said it would, contact us at hello@sendtidings.com first so we can try to fix it. Where the defect can’t be fixed, you may be entitled to a refund under applicable consumer protection law, in line with Paddle’s policy.

Questions

For anything refund-related on the SendTidings side, email refunds@sendtidings.com. For the transaction itself, Paddle’s refund policy is the authoritative source.
